Our pool was Installed in 2004
Noticed rust around the skimmer in the spring 2009 see pic.  Told by John that's normal just replaced the faceplate and use some CLR on the rust. Bought and Replaced the faceplate and gasket which for some reason was missing on the original faceplate install see pic

Replaced liner in 2019 see picture
After further investigation found they they also forgot to install a collar in the skimmer which prevent the water from overflowing behind the skimmer see pic I had duck tape


My neighbor's pool was installed 1 year earlier by shank just had their liner replaced and they don't have any rust
So what gives

Last summer that corner of our pool dropped 1.5 inches due to water erosion from the skimmer

Due to Shanks negligence
We are now looking at over $40,000.00 in repair

Our installation was done the year his sons took over and I guess mine was probably the first one, and we were the guinea pigs. My installation was for practice

I regret dealing with these guys

Unfortunately we are now pursuing legal action since Shank is unwilling to work with us

Buyer beware

I used Shank for an extensive pool refubishment and their work is largely unsatisfactory. They took 7 weeks to do a job that they had said would take three and the reason for the delay was that only one or two employees would show up to do work and they would never be dedicated to our job 100 percent. Instead, they spend a few hours at your home and then go to another job and we wouldn't see them again till the next day or the one following. If you have them install a concrete deck around your pool then expect it to have multiple cracks. Shank does not cut expansion joints into the deck, contrary to industry standards, to allow for controlled cracking so your deck is guaranteed to have visible cracks approx every five feet. In contrast, expansion joints are cut to allow the crack to form in the joint where it is recesed and invisible to the eye. Lastly, they gave me a bonus of a sunction line leak and then said no leak existed and that the problem was my pump. I replaced the pump but the leak is still present and will be fixed by another company.

I would not recommend Shank Pools to anyone but if you decide to use them be very careful and hire a pool consultant to keep review and inspect their work. Also, take lots of pictures of your yard before they start working. They made a mess of mine and never cleaned it up.

I came across these reviews while searching the internet for the phone number for Shank to open our pool this season and was more than surprised that anything negative could be written about this company. Shank Pools installed our in-ground salt water system (before it was the norm) about six years ago. They had been recommended to me by a friend who had just finished a pool with them and we have, in turn, also recommended them to others. More than five other families that we know have also installed pools with Shank (at our recommendation) and all have had very positive experiences.

They were incredibly knowledgeable about the swimming pool industry when we bought and their attention to safety of the swimming environment made them stand out in my eyes at the time. They were devoted to making our backyard swimming oasis come true but not at the expense of safety (which was not obvious in my conversations with the other major swimming pool stores at that time). We have had Shank Pools open and close our pool every season and have called on them for any issues or problems that has arisen since. Their client service in all respects is excellent, 5-stars. I definitely recommend them to anyone who asks me about pools and so I would highly recommend that anyone who is thinking about installing a pool call Shank Pools and ask for a few names of their customers. I would give them glowing reviews as I would imagine their other clients would as well.

THE OTHER COMMENTS ON THIS WEB SITE ARE A SMEAR CAMPAIGN, FROM OTHER COMPETITORS TRYING TO GIVE A FALSE IMPRESSION.

SHANK POOLS IS A GREAT COMPANY TO DEAL WITH AND HAS AN "A" RATING FROM THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! WHICH THEY COULDN'T HAVE IF THE COMMENTS ON THIS WEBSITE WERE TRUE. I WOULD DEFINITELY CHOOSE SHANK POOLS AGAIN IF WE MOVE AND NEED ANOTHER POOL! THEY ARE HONEST PEOPLE! REALLY GOOD GUYS! GO WITH THE BEST, GO WITH SHANK POOLS!

We bought a pool from these guys and have been at war ever since.
No lack of problems which I cannot get into here as we will soon be litigating.

I bought a pool from them and have nothing but problems.
I just read 3 other online `gopro`.`reviews` at n49 about them as well saw that the BBB has complaints.

They would not fix problems and came up with excuses and lies. We have filed a BBB claim against them and I imagine will also end up in court. We have an air leak in our lines that has been confirmed by three others and they will not repair it as they know it involves digging up our yard.
