Our move from Ottawa to Montreal resulted in a number of broken fragile items: expensive wine glasses, picture frames, mirrors, hand painted pottery from Turkey and my late grand-mother's antique royal winston tea set. The salesperson on the phone reassured us that fragile items would be carefully moved. But when speaking with Jim from the claims department, he said that it is up to the drivers discretion to treat fragile items any differently. They were therefore stacked at the bottom of heavy items. The crew explained that they are provided no training on how to move, and are essentially trying to get through back breaking work as fast as possible.
I wish I had not selected Cassidy's and I will not proivde them with my business in the future.

Cassidy's came highly reccomended by two family members who had move localy with in Ottawa. We moved to Burlington and everthing that was promissed was done. Estimate vs. actuall price was with in 5% and the delivery was as schedualed. We had a couple of very minor damages that we did not even claim as we were so pleased with the crew. They even encluded our children in conversations and took time to acknowledge and respond to their questions, and there were many from our 4 year old.

Very proffesioal & courteous from start to finish. Thank you!

Terrible company (management). Even the actual movers complained about how they are treated and the management. A woman rep came to my house and told us (my wife and I) that they would deliver on a specific date. This was important because my daughter was moving into an apartment on a specific date and we were to move into our new house. When it came down to it, they deliver FOUR DAYS LATER! When I spoke to the rep, she said it was in the contract that they had leeway. This despite the fact she told us they would deliver our stuff on a specific date. Her words were "Oh, I can guarantee it. Our trucks are our money, so keeping your stuff of our truck for four days costs us a lot, so it will be there on your date." She said this in front of both of us and later, when I reminded her of this (she was on the phone with myself and her boss though) she told me I was lying. Secondly, she came and looked over everything and gave us a price. I had three companies quote – Cassidy's came in the middle. I walked her through the house and specifically pointed out items that were expensive and fragile. For example, certain pieces of art valued each at over 10K, and a laser drum scanner that I originally purchased for around 40K 10 years ago. I pointed the scanner out to her, told her what it was worth and that the replacement cost was a bit over 10K. Yes I do mean over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! I guess you know where this is going. But wait, there's more! After she left and I looked at her quote, I called her and told her to up the quote because I thought she had under-estimated the weight, so we added TWO TONS to the price. When the packer come to pack – they hire another company to do the packing – the packer was surprised at the price she quoted, even with the extra two tons I had added to the price. In his opinion, the price should be WAY higher. She came by again and reviewed the items and again said that her quote was correct. The day before they packed us, she came by and then informed us that the delivery date was going to be four days later than she had originally promised. Needless to say, my wife and I were deeply unhappy. I informed the rep that this changes things and that I was going to have to move my daughter’s stuff and that some of the stuff I was going to move they would have to. She told us that that would not change things at all. What this actually meant was that around 15 boxes of my daughter’s stuff would go with me in my mini-van and around 4 boxes of things from my furnace room that I was going to take instead, they would take.

When they finally came to our new house, the driver told us that they would need to be paid IN CASH before they started to unload and when he showed me the invoice it was FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS OVER THEIR QUOTE. They would not start to unload unless they were paid immediately.

I lost it, blame me? Got on the phone with the rep, – she was completely unhelpful and basically told me that my wife and I were lying. Right! If you knew my wife you would know that that is impossible. We got on the phone with the “boss” in Ottawa and after I threatened to sue the living daylights out of them, they dropped the price back to the quote but still wanted cash up front before they unloaded. They said the reason they upped the price were the extra four boxes that they took from the furnace room. That’s 1K per box! The actual people doing the move thought that the four boxes weighed around 20 pounds each.

So, I drove to the bank, got cash, paid them and then they started unloading. Broke a number of items of furniture and an inkjet printer, luckily a cheap one.

A few weeks later I had a project I needed to use my expensive laser drum scanner for. Plugged it in, turned on my computer, nothing happened. It was broken. They had – despite my warnings, packed both the inkjet AND the scanner on their sides!

When I submitted a claim which was for approximately12.5K. They got the furniture repaired – though not they way they said it would be repaired. Some of the pieces were over 110 years old and they told us it would be repaired with that in mind. The repair company used plastic! The denied the claim for the scanner. Why you ask? OK, it seems that any item worth over 10K had to be listed on a separate sheet and inspected. When I asked why the rep did not tell me that when I showed her the items – and there were quite a few – that were worth more than that, she did not inform me of that, her response was – actually there was none to that question. All she said was that it was in the contract. OK, the contract was four pages long in tiny type. Any other company that moved us, or actually does anything for us that requires a contract, explains the contract in plain English and especially points out specific provisos in the contract.

So don’t use them, don’t trust them.
