Dr. Abtahian is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he completed the Medical Scientist Training Program, earning both a Medical Degree and PhD. He completed internal medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. This was followed by cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition, Dr. Abtahian has completed a year of advanced training in vascular medicine and intervention, also at Massachusetts General Hospital. During the course of his training, Dr. Abtahian has authored or co-authored over 30 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles published in leading journals such as Science and Journal of American College of Cardiology. Dr. Abtahian is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Interventional Cardiology. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology. He joined the staff at Sands-Constellation Heart Institute at Rochester General Hospital in 2015. His clinical interests in addition to valvular heart disease, include vascular medicine, peripheral arterial and venous endovascular intervention, complex coronary interventions including chronic total occlusions (CTO), and transradial cardiac catheterization.
