This thing has everything you could ever want on it and currently it is FREE! I'm sure one day that will change but currently I am eating this stuff up!! The Best.
Not only is it free, but it also shows data from all sources! Very impressed by this and happy that it has more information than the AutoCheck reports!
My son and I have been looking at used cars for him on craigslist and I have been using research.com quite a bit. It's the second site I go to after kbb.com to see what a car should be going for, and it's especially useful when we have the VIN of the cars we're interested in or even as a general site giving overviews of cars.
Although very detailed, I do wish the site drilled down further into a car's history when the VIN was presented, more like a CarFax, but you get what you pay for, and the site is free. The other thing I'd like to see in the Consumer Review section is to have the option to sort them in chronological order, especially newest to oldest. Many of the newer reviews are buried deep in the pages and I'd like to see how the cars I'm looking at are holding up closer to the time I'm reading about them rather than when they first came out. In addition, if there was a way to gather more recent reviews from around the internet rather than one place, that would be extremely helpful.
Nevertheless, the site is clean, well thought out, and easy to navigate.

I have used the used car reports from Research.com and they are very useful in identifying whether the car has been in an accident. There are other valuable information such as market value and safety scores which can become very helpful.
I gotta say that I really love Research.com. This site has helped me make some really great choices in choosing a good car.
thanks for free services keep improving
I was desperately looking for vehicle detail report as i entered a final deal in quick time for purchasing a used car. After doing google, i could find only www.research.com as the site which was providing this free. i put the VIN number and searched vehicle report. And believe me ( and you will also believe once you will use it) it was really amazing to see the kind of report generated by this website and that too free. Not only it gave comprehensive vehicle history, it also gave market price indicator of vehicle which helped me in cracking the deal. Thnkyou reasearch.com. I would recommend all my friends to use this site. Thanks again.
I have been researching for vehicles for a while and didn't find such an exhaustive report! It list every minute detail.
I was initially surprised to see such details and tried looking at the records of my own vehicle.
Unexpectedly, I can see my service records showing up and they were up-to-date. Now, it's not only that I can trust these records to buy a new car, but don't need to pay for it.

This is the only free vin report i have found so far. I am currently looking to buy a car and i come here for vin check and this website doesn't disappoint.
I was in the market to purchase a few cars from auto auctions but needed a tool for preliminary background research on cars I was interested in. I found research.com among a few others that offered paid reports. I purchased reports from autocheck.com but ran the same checks on cars using research.com. After comparing information on both reports I found that the reports from research.com was just as thorough and equally helpful. I don't know how long research.com will be free but if it starts charging a similar rate I don't see how choosing its reports over another site's reports will really matter.
I'm buying my first car, and research.com has a lot of great information for free. It helps me be at ease before going to the used car lot.
I am not sure of the review accuracy. My title is salvage but the review did not mention that.
