Choose Food

I founded Choose Food because, in my work as a dietitian nutritionist in Austin, Texas, I saw many people trying to make real healthy changes in their lives, but struggling to stay on restrictive diets that never got them anywhere - except, of course, stuck in an endless cycle of diet, relapse, repeat. The problem is that diets don't work! Not only are dieters more likely to gain weight than to lose it, repeated diet attempts are associated with developing eating disorders. At Choose Food, we take a different approach. Our dietitian nutritionists help people relearn how to manage food-intake based on internal signals of hunger and satiety. For most people, all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle if attention is paid to balance, variety, and moderation. Research has shown that this approach can improve the quality of nutrient intake, help with weight loss, and lead to a reduction in total cholesterol, LDL, blood pressure, depression, eating disorder symptomology, and food cravings.
