I made a big mistake to choose SHANE HOMES to build my house ,if u r looking for a great experience and a quality product, our recommendation and experience is that u don't buy a Shane home. They made promises they didn't Keep and disappear. I will not recommend anyone

All I can say to anyone contemplating building with these guy's is to shop around a bit more. I live in a relatively new community and Shane have quiet the presence out here. Several of my neighbours (one is on their 2nd home with them also) purchased a shane product and not one of them have anything good to say. Out of three houses that I know of, there has been faulty water heaters, crooked tiling and drywalling, the paintwork is not worthy of being called work, cracks appearing daily, basement leaks, fan exhausts with water flowing back into the house, light fixtures literally falling from their placements, crappy appliances. I could go on, and on, but I'll save you the trouble of reading more, suffice to say my lesson has been learnt, albeit the hard way.
Anyone who say's that "these things happen" after spending a half million dollars on one of their products should not be in the business of selling anything.
All in all, I love where I live, I love my lot, but I don't love my builder and that means my dollars will be going elsewhere next time.

I'm amazed when I read peoples reviews. "Crappy workmanship..!" "Didn't use products they were supposed too!” I remembered this site and the comments so I took these to our Area Manager, Claude Smith. He told me that they cannot build a home of such poor quality and still be in business. Thier homes are built well above the Alberta Building Code and inspected by the city of Calgary and further warrantied by the Alberta New Homes Warranty Program, so if anything, there’s allot missing from these stories (the truth).

My wife and I decided to buy a semi-detached home from Shane Homes in Panorama Hills as a revenue property. It’s almost complete and the nicest part of all of this is we received an additional discount on from them because we are a repeat buyer; they called it Shane Family Rewards. Quite honestly it's been pretty smooth throughout the whole process. Kal helped us make some pretty smart decisions in the Design Centre so we didn’t blow our budget and our supervisor Paul is the same guy who worked on our current home, so we're really thrilled!

My advice is don't listen to these people who "stretch the truth". Shane Homes make the experience of buying a home fun and that’s why we're two time buyers now!

Shane homes has the worst quality homes I have ever seen. My home has structual problems and they have the worse customer service, Won't retun phone calls !!

I've read a few reviews online and I think what's most disturbing is that people who had a bad experience are the only ones to post comments.

I had a great experience with Shane Homes! We've purchased from 2 other builders in the past and not had good experiences. The 3rd time around we contemplated going used until we ended up in Shane Homes showhome in Panorama Hills. Bob and Claude were great to deal with. They walked us through the whole process of building and "held our hands" until the end. The Interior staff helped us with our decisions and we weren't pressured to buy, buy, buy upgrades in the design centre. We moved in 3 months ago and the house was almost perfect when we moved in (a few deficiencies) but they were taken care of quickly. And our first service call dealt with professionally by Kessna. I can't say enough good things about this company and have already referred a friend (and I got a $1000 for the referral).

half a star is to generous.

Won't give us copies of change orders. Late on incentives. won't do warranty repairs. Double charged on some upgrades, lied to about others. Their policy seems to be if you don't catch it they won't tell and if you do they will deny deny deny. Did you know the grout is suppose to chip out of your tile in under 3 months. that's what the repair guy told me. One of their contractors working next door damaged my property last fall... still waiting for it to be fixed.

Worst experience of my life from contract to now 5 mths into my home and still not finished.

Just got insulation in attic last week. After 4mths living in house...
