I treat pediatric and adult patients with chronic illness and somatic symptoms where patients have physical symptoms that cannot be explained by a medical condition. I also treat patients with medical traumatic stress, traumatic grief, and specialize in pain management and family-centered care in the hospital setting.My research includes physician-family communication related to somatic symptom disorders and screening for psychosocial concerns in medical populations.I want my patients to feel positive about their contribution in the world, in spite of whatever limitations they may have.I believe it truly does take a village to raise a child and a person, and, as a result, an important part of my role is coordinating my patients' care with their medical providers.
