O'Malley's Catering & Rentals, Newmarket Reviews (1)
After a disastrous wedding meal for about 200 guests, I have contacted the chef and owner, Mr. Amicucci, to let him know the two families were humiliated and unhappy. Poor food quality was and remains our main concern. Our upsets include:
1. overcooked filet mignons, manicottis with dried up sauce, mushy vegetables (after a fabulous tasting experience)
2. a salad served as its own course adding at least 30 minutes to the evening and therefore impacting on the doneness of the meat, on the start of the dance...
3. the timeline put together not followed
3. the lack of customer service: answering concerns only after a BBB complaint has been made
4. Mr. Amicucci relying on "unbiased" and initially "anonymous" vendors from the venue to support his claims and pointing to concerns having nothing to do with issue at hand
5. Mr. Amicucci stating that he can't establish whether guests were happy because opinions are too biased at this point
His reasons for not being at fault are:
1. I am inaccurate in relating events
2. O'Malley's was faced with a challenging situation. Service in a more timely manner was impossible because of verbal abuse (by others than myself, the customer and complainant) after main entree was served and guests not seated for staff to finish service.
3. The food was consumed
Since Mr. Amicucci was not on location, he says he is backed up by vendors from the venue, namely the dj, the bartenders and the wedding planners. However, the bartenders were not served food and can't talk to its quality. The DJ from Dynamic Solutions had a fabulous filet mignon, does not recall whether the salad was served as a single course and did state he started the dance at about 10 pm. As far as the wedding planner, she spoke with me twice during the meal and asked Mr. Amicucci's staff to relate to him what happened. She spoke with him afterwards. Yet, the chef is "dumbfounded" that she changed her tone. She does not share "his sentiments" and attests my facts are not "invalid" as he claims. She confirmed the salad was out of order and an individual course which slowed down service because the staff was waiting for a speech scheduled after pasta. She had to start the dance by 10 pm as things were running too far behind. She did say her filet was ok.
Overall, this successful business (earned excellent reviews, supports the community, and has been voted best caterer in Newmarket for about 18 years) will not directly acknowledge their errors, offer an apology or aim for a respectful and fair resolution. Please note that as the only vendor for our chosen venue, he is guaranteed 3 celebrations a week, all paid in full giving the customer no leverage. Please also note that reviews are done by extremely happy and extremely upset customers and do not show a true reflection of the business. Better Business Bureau has files on this and information is public.
