I went to this place to get some things to fix a door. I didn't know exactly what parts would fit with what I had at home, so I wanted to speak with somebody. Only problem was, there was nobody there. Only cashiers. When I asked them for help they were like "You can use our self checkout. It's a fast and convenient way to shop at Home Depot".

At one point I thought I had found a guy to help me. He was wearing an orange vest and everything. It turns out he walked into Home Depot years ago, couldn't find help, and just went crazy. He's been there ever since, wearing an orange vest, pretending to be busy.

They're all pretty much the same, not a lot of variation from store to store or even region to region. But I can let you in on a couple of eye openers overall.

Beware the wiring section. Copper prices have skyrocketed in the last 10 years - they've quadtrupled. The 20 meter chunk of 6/3 I was planning to buy to wire up a stove is close to $250. I almost passed out. I was thinking less than half that. So postposting that project until I can shop around, maybe see if I can dig up some wholeale contacts. It's crazy.

This HD does truck sales quite often. They get shipments in containers and dump them right in the parkng lot next to the garden center. I picked up a nice Moffat Range for under $350 on sale. This HD also does the liquidation for many of the stores in the region. Damaged goods or hard-to-sell mechandise comes thru here. I bught a $600 undermount double sink for under $100, and almost had the guy talked in to making down further.

The things I don't like about this store are the same things I dislike about other giant sized stores like this. Getting help is a problem, and lineups are usually quite nasty because of the nature of the stuff getting checked out.

One thing I do lke about this location is it's right of Burlington & Centennial, so there's lots of fast ways out of the area, with or without a load. They also rent a cube van on premises for $20 + gas in case you need to get a big load home and the Ford won't cut it.
