When he first moved to the North Shore of Oahu in 1992, founder Luis Silva quickly found himself missing the fresh salsa and homemade tortillas of his San Diego childhood. After a lifetime of cooking authentic Mexican food with his mother and sampling great Latin cuisine on surf trips, Silva yearned for flavors not to be found on the Big Island. In 2005, he founded Luibueno's Baja-Style Mexican Catering; his Latin cuisine feasts soon earned a reputation, and were sought out for everything from weddings to the Triple Crown of Surfing surf contest.
