Bymark, Toronto Reviews (2)
We went to Bymark for Summerlicious. The restaurant had a great atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and extremely pleasant. We sampled everything off the summerlicious menu and also ordered the foie gras from the regular appetizer menu. The food was to die for. The Bymark burger was so moist and juicy, and the rosewater pavlova dessert just melts in your mouth. We loved the food and the whole experience. We will definitely be going back soon.
Last April I went to Bymark with a friend to celebrate my birthday. It is located in the TD centre, so it is easy to access through the PATHWAY system that is attached to the subway.
The ambiance was lovely. It was very sleek and modern, without being pretentious. It was mostly lit by candle light.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and was able to advise us on certain wines, which ended up being good choices.
For our appetizer we shared the pan seared fois gras ($25.95). It looked to be a small portion, but was more than enough for two. It was probably one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Crispy and sweet as well as salty, and tender. It was absolutely wonderful.
For our entrees we ordered the 8 oz. Bymark Burger with porcini mushrooms, brie, pancetta and onion rings ($36.95) and the seared day boat scallops with dungeness crab ravioli ($39.95). The burger was moist and flavourful, and extremely filling. The onion rings were HUGE and very crispy and delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked and fresh. They tasted like the sea. The ravioli was full of crab and covered in a citrus butter and crab bisque sauce. It was basically perfection.
The meals were portioned well. I couldn't even finish mine!
For dessert we ordered the Chef's trio of desserts ($13.50), which were three cheesecakes, which were very sweet and creamy. Very respectable cheesecakes.
I'm not exactly sure which wines we got, but there is a wonderful selection. The server made some excellent suggestions.
The only strange thing I noticed was that the bathrooms share a communal sink which is outside of the actual toilet area. It was nice, but a bit strange.
This was an absolutely wonderful meal, one of the best I've ever had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
