Do not shop at that store location as My wedding dress was delivered DIRTY...at the moment of pick up by myself ....unfortunately I did not verify that it was properly cleaned...I did trust this store that they had done a great cleaning ...It JUST wasnt the case ...the dress was exactly in the same conditions when given to them for dry cleaning ! Got married in a dirty dress !! Awful experience !! Dishonest people...non professional!

I'm apart of a large bridal party and we had booked an appointment to go look at some dresses for the bride and bridesmaids here. We book the appointment well in advance and when we arrived we were given dirty looks by the staff and had them somewhat complain because there was a large group of us (not all of the bridal party was even there). They were annoyed that we had coffees and made us throw them out before entering the store (which was understandable, I get it they don't want any dresses ruined by coffee) but when we asked if we could use their washroom they were genuinely annoyed to have to show us where it was. Fast forward a few months and it was decided we were going to order the bridesmaid dresses form this store (10 bridesmaid dresses total plus the bride bought her dress from here). I had called to book an appointment for me and 2 other bridesmaids to come in and get measured and the lady I spoke to on the phone said that because we were coming in on a Saturday morning she "can't guarantee the quality of service we will receive because Saturday is a busy day". This statement actually shocked me! We are paying customers! We are buying 10 dresses from you! And you're telling me you can't offer us excellent customer service?! Honestly, I am surprised if they have returning customers because they are one of the worst retail establishments I have ever been to in regards to their customer service. I would never recommend anyone go there for a good bridal experience.

Went to try on a dress as I was debating between two (one from Promises and Lace and then another from another bridal store), after I said I wouldn't be buying the dress today as I was still not sure between the two dresses and wanted to 100% sure, the consultant walked away while I was still in the dress and never came back. My mom had to help me out of the dress and hang it back up because our consultant left us on our own. Guess they are on commission and as soon as your not buying they leave you to fend for yourself. Needless to say, they helped me make up my mind right then and there!

A group of us came in to try on the chosen bridesmaid dress. It was the most horrible experience we have ever had. We asked about veils and sashes as well for the bride and got a "it depends" answer with no help or suggestions. They didn't offer to show us anything or help in any way.

For the bridesmaids dress fitting, our sizes and measurements were announced for the entire store to see and out problem areas were also pointed out. Absolutely horrible customer service and I will not be back for my own wedding.

I always thought that this was a good place to buy your dress and had even recommended it to several friends until I had a personal experience of buying a dress there recently. The customer service is lacking and they had quoted us one amount for alternations at the time of purchase and then doubled the amount at the time of the alterations without giving us notice of the change. The seamstress did a terrible job of altering the bustle but it was too late to go somewhere else. They were rude to us throughout the whole experience. If you do buy here don't get them to provide alterations.

Ordered a wedding gown for my daughter a year ago. Waited 8 months before she called to hear about the status of her dress only to be told she was not in the system. A quick return call told my my daughter that her name was simply misspelled, that she was in fact in the system and that she could call back to inquire at a later date. Two months before the wedding, still no word. Finally I call and speak with the owner who assures me that the much awaited dream gown will be in next week and she will call us when it arrives....no call.! (surprised?) My daughter calls and oh yippee it's in! Went for a fitting! My daughter looked lovely! As I approached her I noticed that the dress looked strangely familiar to the model gown she tried on a year ago...same stains and dirty! I refused to pay for that dress and requested my deposit back. I told the owner that I was not surprised that she would try to pull something over us as she had done so 20 years ago to my sister!!!! She blamed the supplier and kindly reminded me that my disappointment was upsetting my daughter ! Ha! I did not disappoint her ...Promises and Lace did! Will never, ever recommend this store! I believe that the dress was discontinued at time of purchase and was never ordered. That is why she was not in the system 8 months later and by then it was tooooo late to find a replacement. Stand up and admit your error and I would have appreciated that honesty. Promises ....what a laugh!

Promises and Lace was the first bridal store I went to when beginning my search for My perfect wedding dress. I went to numerous stores in the Hamilton area as well as Oshawa and Toronto areas and none came close to the professionalism and serenity offered at Promises and Lace. I always scheduled my appointments first thing upon store opening to avoid the weekend busyness. Carol was very helpful and friendly, she greeted me with a warm smile and knew my name, she inquired about the style I was looking for and my budget. She quickly started pulling dresses and invited me to try them all on. She offered to take photos and then she brought me a dress she thought I may like. I tried it and I like it a lot! However I continued my search as it was my first store. Each dress I tried on just didn't quite compare to the one Carol suggested, I even dreamt about it! After approximately 33 dresses I returned to Promises and Lace tried the dress on again with the veil this time and fell in love all over again. I highly recommend this bridal store to anyone who can approach the search for the perfect dress with an open mind and willingness to try on a dress you may not gravitate to immediately, it always looks different on the hanger. I will post a photo once my dress arrives and leave a follow up review. Best of luck Brides :)

My daughter and I cannot thank Promises and Lace enough for the wonderful service and attention we received on Saturday Sept 7th/13. We had a terrible experience at Pearl Bridal that same day and while driving back to Burlington, we decided to call Promises and Lace and simply see if we could come in and browse. We were told they were very busy, but if we came around 4:00, we could look around with no issues. We arrived and were greeted by 3 women, one being the owner. My daughter is a size 14 and had a horrible experience at the other bridal boutique in Port Credit. Lynn (the owner) greeted my daughter with a warm smile and said "honey, that's not plus size, that's a regular size." They took us into the back and immediately began giving her gowns to try on. She felt like a princess! Lynn and the staff at Promises and Lace are amazing. I would highly recommend them!! And yes, she bought her dress and veil!! She looks beautiful!!

I was hesitant to book an appointment at Promises and Lace. After peering in their windows I expected their wedding gowns to be very expensive. The bridal shop is simply lovely. Superior to any other bridal shop I had visited.

I understood why it was a good idea to book an appointment on the weekends. This is a busy bridal shop.

Much to my surprise their gowns ranged from about $1,200. and up. I had expected $2,000. $3,000. $4,000. and $5,000. to be the average. Not the case. Their gowns are current and stylish. They carry some of the most fashionable designers.

The consultant assigned to me made me feel at home. I was a bit nervous about trying on wedding gowns. It was very evident that she had worked in the bridal industry for some time. She knew the designers, fabric, and cuts. She made gown shopping fun and easy. With her expert help I found the most perfect gown for me.

Promises and Lace is simply the best. From the decor to the gowns to the staff, this is must visit for any bride to be.

An Extremely Happy Bride

When walking down Brant Street I noticed this beautiful bridal gown boutique called Promises and Lace. I loved the name of the store, and the location seemed quaint. This was about two years ago, and I thought to myself how much I would love to buy my wedding dress here one day.

I got engaged this past December, and decided to visit the boutique for my dress. I was a bit nervous, excited and full of hope. This all faded immediately when I walked through the door, and was completely ignored. I was told that if we didn't have an appointment, we couldn't come in. Ohhhhh right, silly me. That's why they were stand-offish. With a smile I said I would gladly book an appointment, and left feeling as if the rude vibes were a little misunderstanding on my part.

I booked an appointment, convinced myself that my first impression of the store was incorrect, and awaited my appointment. When I arrived on the following Saturday for a 10:30 appointment, I stood my the entrance without being greeted for half an hour. I saw that the store was full with two other wedding parties, so my mother and I patiently waited. Finally we were spoken to.

Our sales representative asked what styles of dresses I liked, and proceeded to select the dresses she thought I would like. I would have preferred to simply look at the dresses myself, and point out which ones I would like to try on. I felt that by her selecting all of them for me, I was wasting her time, and my time. But, with an open mind I tried everything on, liking one dress only.

To make matters a little more uncomfortable, while I tried on each dress, and came out for my mom to see, all other customers where staring. Another sales representative even barked at me to turn around so the bride she was helping could see. While a group of women gawked at me, I stood there, embarrassed. In addition to that, when I wanted to try on the one dress I did like again, it had been passed off for someone else to try.

In the meantime, I asked if I could use a three-way mirror to see the dress I liked when I got the chance to try it on again (I was at the middle station with a small mirror and no riser to stand on). The older sales rep with short grey hair said we were not allowed to use that big mirror because they were waiting for an appointment. It was at this point that I felt unhappy, and disheartened. I thanked them (for what I don't know), and left.

After reflecting on how I always dreamed it would be to find my wedding dress I came to the conclusion that the Cinderella and Fairy Godmother good feeling is what I wanted the experience to be like. At Promises and Lace, I felt like the evil stepmothers and frumpy stepsisters were surrounding me. But alas, I found the Cinderella experience at a perfect bridal boutique in Dundas called Heirlooms. I purchased the second dress I tried on, and they even have a private room with big three-way mirrors for brides who are shy and prefer a little privacy.

I drove almost two hours to get there, and once my Mom and I arrived, we were not even acknowledged. I ended up having to start looking around myself. The older woman that eventually came to help did not introduce herself, and lost interest once I told her what my budget was. She pulled one dress, that looked ridiculously cheap, and when I said I did not like it, she told me that she wanted to show me other dresses but my budget was too low. In total I tried on 3 dresses, two of which were completely outside of my budget, she basically told me that I would have to shop somewhere else because there is nothing she could offer me. As I was putting on my coat to leave the consultant walked away from me, she was not even going to attempt to properly end the appointment because she had lost interest in me. I left feeling like a piece of garbage because I had a budget. I have never been made to feel like trash before, but I will never step foot in there again, and I advise every bride to stay clear.

My wedding date was April 9, 2011 so it was just recent. I searched for months looking for a dress. I was looking for something high fashion-looking. I went to Toronto, Woodbridge, Mississauga, Hamilton, all with no luck. I was frustrated with the same typical bridal dresses these consultants were giving me. I did some research and went to Promises and Lace because they have a great selection of Pronovias dresses which I liked. The service was excellent and they were very accommodating. I bought the pronovias fantastica because my family loved it. When the dress came in, I wasnt convinced this was the dress for me, however my family still loved it. I waited to get alterations two weeks before my wedding. I was in tears that day because i didnt feel this dress was 'the one'. The owner, Lyn, who is amazing by the way, put her arm around me and told me not to get upset and that she would help me find my dream dress. Lyn knew I wanted a high fashion look and brought me out a gorgeous dress and i feel in love right away. Two weeks before the wedding i picked out my dress, and 1 week before i had it altered. Lyn credited the old dress towards my new one. What other bridal salon would do that?!?!?!? They care about making the brides happy. Crazy time, but the staff at Promises made my dream a reality. This dress is stunning. Very high fashion. Im also not a fan of bridal jewellery and was going to buy mine separately, but i found everything at Promises. Amazing selection and service. give them a try, you wont be disappointed!

It must be under new management now. Many brides have a different story to tell.

I went here with my maid of honour to shop for my wedding dress. We didn't have an appointment and just took a chance that they would have some free time. They did have a couple of girls in the store already but were happy to have me look around. I was introduced to my consultant "Jennie" who was AMAZING! I didn't really have a clear vision on what I wanted and she didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all when we pulled ALOT of dresses. She let me try them all on to see how I felt and any ones I liked she did up for me and "fluffed" the dress up beautifully! The negative reviews on here really shocked me but they do seem to be old because I truly don't have anything bad to say the owner was extremely nice as well. They have an EXCELLENT selection of dresses too..All different styles and price points.. where I truly didn't find this anywhere else...there were dresses for $1000 and dresses for $3000+ but the quality was great..I found my dress and just wanted to give my consultant Jennie a big hug when I left

I am just writing a review to warn brides & bridesmaids not to purchase dresses here...I was recently in a wedding and purchased our bridesmaids dresses from Promises & Lace and it was not good. They ordered my wrong size. It was 2 dress sizes to big and wanted to charge an outrageous price for alterations way over $100. I was not impressed at all. I ended up going to Jeffery's Bridal in Hamilton who were amazing!!! They could not believe the poor service I received and laughed when they seen how big my dress was....
So like I said DO NOT BUY FROM PROMISES & LACE!!!!!
