A terrible experience & unprofessional service I had at MIDAS shop located on 2800 Dufferin St., Toronto, Ontario. If there is a zero star, I will give Midas a BIG Zero.

I am a senior in my 70s. On March 14, 2018, "I brought my car to the above Midas location for an inspection, due to an oil leak. They diagnosed that the leak was coming from rear main seal. I was quoted $1,400 to have the leak fixed. I agreed to the service and its cost, after pointed out to them, not to come back & tell me that it leaks from another place in a case they don't repair it properly. Midas (Sin at front desk) told me, not to worry, they are sure it leaks at main seal and I have 3 months warranty. Two day later I picked up my car. When I got it home and it sat for a while, I noticed that it was still leaking. So I immediately called Midas & drove it right back to them. They (Sin & Marwan the owner) looked at it and told me it wasn't leaking, is the old oil and give it a few days to dry up.

Six days later, and it was still leaking. I took it back to Midas. They said they forgot to tighten up the transmission oil hose.

From the first day (March 16/18) that I picked up my car and up to July 18, 2018, the oil never stopped leaking. I took my auto mobile back to them again & again for more than 20 times. Few times they kept it overnight. During these visits they (Sin & Marwan) were telling me each time, that it leaks from a different place and not to worry, they will fix it. Also during this period, they told me that they replaced different seals & gaskets (mail seal, front seal, timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket etc). Numerous times I question the capability & reliability of the mechanics (including the owner) employed by Midas.

After getting tired, frustrated and ready to have a break down from going back and forth to Midas shop and spending a lot of time on the phone without getting nowhere with them, I asked them to reimbursed fully for the amount I paid, so I could go to another garage, since they don't know where the leak is coming from, and they don't know how to fix it. They (Sin & Marwan) said that they will check with the head office (Midas corporate in USA). The head office response was negative.

After the head office refusal, Marwan (owner) said there is nothing that he can do, he is not going to fix the oil leak and also he is not going to give me my money back.

I contacted Midas corporate consumer relations (Charlie, Mark, Mef, Omar, Josh) multiple times. The most of the people that I talk to at corporate, were rude, unhelpful and without any effort to resolve the problem. Especially Josh the supervisor who had also a slight attitude. Midas Corporate response was, "there is nothing we can do, we can talk to them (shop) about your problem only, because it's an independently owned business.

Over the course of the 4 months following my car repair at Midas, It was determined, that:
- They misdiagnosed the location of the leak and did not fix the leak as a result;
- They continued to misdiagnose the leak multiple times afterward thereby fixing wrong areas of the vehicle in attempts to rectify the issue;
- I have only recovered $420 of the $1400 I paid for services not appropriately rendered;
- I paid a lot of money for this to work, and now I'm out $980 with the engine that leaks to this day (7 months later);
- I have lost 4 months of my own time going back and forth (public transportation) to the mechanic and being without a vehicle for days on end. This minivan is the only car we have; and
- These circumstances have caused me great distress.

All I have to say is, these guys are horrible. They have no idea about oil leaks. They lack knowledge in their trade. They have no clue what they are doing. I am very disappointed. I was expecting them to take responsibility of their actions. What a mistake!
