I love to just sit with my friends at the Starbucks at this Indigo and browse through all of the books here. It's like a home away from home, the staff are incredibly helpful and I'm always really comfortable.
I remember when they held midnight opening parties for the launch of the "Harry Potter" books...it was nice to see how everyone got excited about books! :)

I tend to order allot of rare, out of print and uncommon books for myself and for school and for my mom. I love how you can call in and they will check if they have it and order it if you dont, call you when it's in, it's so easy! the coffee shop attatched has amazing cookies and its such a nice treat to go to the big bookstore.
i especialy like going when i'm waiting for a movie to start after dinner, nice to wander and look at all the amazing stuff.

my issue with indigo and the other big chains is this (sorry jenny and steph): they promote not reading. well not reading worthwile things, anyway. Last time I was there half the fiction section was overtaken by a special display for what they call "chick lit" (I am going to, for the sake of brevity, stick to how this offends my love for the written word and leave out how my inner feminist is banging its head against a wall). Could I find real authors in the fiction section, no. Only a few Bukowski staples, Vonnegut is nowhere to be found but no worries, I can find hundreds of poorly written "novels" about obsessing over shopping, celebrity, and the other gems pop culture relentlessly shoves down our throat. I understand that these are large chains which, in order to stay afloat (especially in a time where reading seems to be passe), must caterer to the masses. I just dont understand why they cannot try and expose the masses to the joy of reading thoughtful, well-written books. There is more to life than maxing ones VISA, dieting, and chasing boring men. Im just saying.
Same!

Additional business details
Indigo was created in 1996 by and for booklovers, and merged with Chapters Inc. in August 2001 to become Canada’s largest books retail chain. Indigo Books & Music Inc. is committed to being your most complete and trusted resource for books, music, gifts and much more.
We said in the very beginning that we wanted to create a true booklovers' haven -- a place to discover books, music and more that might, in the rush of life, have gone undiscovered. A place that reflects the best of a small proprietor-run shop bundled with the selection of a true emporium.
