Paul Phillips, III, MD, joined the Hill Country Memorial Medical Group in July 2015. As part of the HCM orthopedic team, Dr. Phillips treats patients with injuries and diseases of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves. As an orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in hand and microvascular surgery and sees patients in Fredericksburg and Marble Falls.
Dr. Phillips graduated from Fredericksburg High School and Southwest Texas State University and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After completing his orthopedic residency in Los Angeles and hand fellowship in San Diego, he and his family returned to Texas in 1995, and he practiced orthopedics in Arlington for 20 years.
A native of Fredericksburg, Dr. Phillips developed his interest in medicine while assisting his father, a local veterinarian, with his animal patients. He played football in both high school and college and was a free agent with the Baltimore Colts. Dr. Phillips is a colonel in the Army Reserves and has served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Germany during eight overseas deployments.
Dr. Phillips’ Fredericksburg roots extend back to the 1800s, and he and his wife now live on land that was originally owned by his family.
