Ontario Conservatory of Music

My kids fell for the vintage miniature / toy musical carousel and free balloons and we mistook it for a respectable institution (name was too close to Toronto's " Royal Conservatory of Music"). Turns out this is a private school that will push to get parent to sign up for a "free in-home assessment"of your kids musical talents. That session turned out to be joke with a guy clapping some beats (3 - 4 beats) and asking our kids to clap them back, which any normal kid should be able to do. Then telling us our kids were musically gifted (!) and we should sign them up immediately to guarantee a spot else we ran the risk of missing out a spot. Basically indulged in what I thought was high pressure sales tactics to pay a $200 family registration fee in cash and would not take a credit card (I think I know why now since you can't charge-back later). Said we would get a call in a month or so to confirm our time slot. We were going away on vacation. Came back and did some research and found terrible reviews and asked numerous times to cancel. We were then told (legal sounding letter) that the 30 day cancel period had passed and we were out of luck and could not get our "registration" money back - even though we had not even got our time slot assigned. Lesson learned the hard way and hopefully others can learn from our terrible experience with this establishment.
