Atlas-Apex Roofing Inc., Toronto Reviews (1)
In the winter I noticed paint peeling on the walls by the chimney and water marks around the skylight.
I phoned Atlas-Apex 4 or 5 times, after about a month someone came to look at the roof. A man named Christian Rossi inspected the roof and told me that the chimney has cracks, needs to be caulked and the skylight needs to be replaced. He said it is not a roofing issue.
He said he would send me a quote by e-mail. After another 2 -3 weeks I received a quote for over $2000.00
I felt the price was high so I called another roofing company. We went on the roof together and he showed me what the issues were.
First, by the chimney, part of the step flashing was installed over the shingles. He said the water would go under the flashing and into the walls.
Second, by the skylight, he asked me if I see any water dripping through the ceiling when it rains. I said no. He said the skylight is not the issue. There are not enough vents in the roof and the watermarks are caused by condensation. I was still not satisfied with the answer. Therefore, he took off the rim around the skylight and exposed the glass to look for any defects that could cause the leaking. The way the skylight is made, there is no way water can get through.
The final recommendation was to install two chimney type vents and to cover the exposed step flashing. The cost was much less than the recommendation from Atlas-Apex.
If I would have gone with Atlas-Apex it would have cost me over $2000.00 and the issue would not have been solved.
Atlas-Apex should have more knowledgable employees to handle roofing issues. They should have handled this issue correctly and covered the labour and honoured the warranty. In the end I had to pay for the repairs personally. I would not recommend Atlas-Apex.
