AAA Alarm Systems, Winnipeg Reviews (17)
Well, unbeknownst to us, the buyer ended up backing out of the contract take-over in October 2014. AAA did NOT contact us to tell us that the buyer had not in fact taken over the contract.
In June 2015, they finally called us to tell us we owed them $400 for the remainder of the unused contract. 10 months after we left the old house, and we thought the contract was taken over. Had AAA contacted us in October, we would have had them come set up the alarm at our new house to finish out the contract. We however had a different company set up an alarm system in January.
Since June we have been trying to talk to someone at AAA to figure out why we weren't informed immediately, and come to some sort of resolution after their major customer service failure. They are not interested in discussing anything with us. They only want us to pay out the contract. We requested some time to investigate things on our end, and discuss with our lawyer, which they agreed to. Then despite agreeing, they sent us to collections.
The agent we have been "dealing with" avoids our calls and obviously does not want to meet with us face to face to discuss the matter. This company is heartless. They do not care about their customers; only about their customers' money. They will exploit you for money owed, even when it is them who screwed up.
Do not give this company any business. You will end up regretting it.
I currently have a collection agency threatening to take me to court and I have been informed that this has affected my credit rating.
I am ready to go to court and can't imagine a judge disagreeing with the case I can make against AAA. AAA are igoring all logic and think they can bully people into giving in to their greedy ways.
In so many words, even though my contract had finished, and I never signed another one, they put me on an automatic renewal, something I never saw in the fine fine print. They are forcing me to pay for 6 months of service that I won't be getting.
There is no way out of their contracts without inducing a penalty, even after your 3 year term is up. Crooks. Management won't do nothing, they are way too big to care anymore. I just signed with City Alarm, no fine print like AAA has. After your 3 years are up, you are month to month. Cancel at anytime. AAA treated me like dog crap after all the years I gave them. All this was over $100.00. Can you believe a huge company like AAA doing that? Every blog I can tell people not to go with AAA I will be doing so!
If you chose to install the satellite radio yourself nad broke the dashboard while doing it - I doubt the dealership would cover that under warranty.
Extended warranties (or serivce plans) are great if you've got older equipment for which parts are no longer available (say your keypad goes kaput and replacement keypads are no longer available) as it can save you the cost of replacing both the keypad and the control panel (for that reason many companies will not offer a service plan to customers with older systems as it may cost them an arm & a leg if they have to do work).
Most service plans allow the service company to use used parts to replace broken items - so if you keypad needs to be replaced don't expect a brand new pristine keypad.
For newer systems a serivce contract is not something I would spend money on - sock the money away in a banck account and pad yourslef against the inevitable replacement cost (nothing lasts for ever).
