They owe me more than $9,000 and it looks like I am never going to be paid. Why don't we pay a visit to these people?
This is where Wilson Teixeira and Annabelle Teixeira live:

Credit View Road (5055)
P.O. L5V 1R8 Mississauga (Ontario)
Telephone: 905-858-2363
Mobile: 416 258 68 86

Apparently Julio Montero, their former Director, is no longer working for Able Translations, he recently joined a new company called Megalexis:

https://www.megalexis.com/en/leadership-team/julio-r-montero/

So I guess Able Translations is totally bankrupted and slowly dying.

I have not been paid for February, March, April and May 2017. My emails to Annabelle Teixeira went unanswered. They exploit the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people (such as newcomers, who try to make some money using their language skills). It is a scandal and shame that they are allowed to do things like this in Canada.

The company owes over $1000 from February and I'v only received one check for the amount of $60 related to work done in January.
Accounting doesn't respond to emails and supervisors and employees have not much to say. If you don't need money for 5-6 months and don't mind them ignoring you when you simply want your money then go ahead and translate for them otherwise don't even think about it.

My case is that my work was done on Feb. 3, 2016, and the cheque was mailed out May 12, 2017. In the end of Feb, 2016, I called Able Translations and wrote emails, however, no responses/calls were back at all since then. I googled online and found out lots of complaints regarding extremely long late payment or even no payments at all. Then, I gave up calling them, and ignored the text/email messages for new tasks.

About 2 months ago, I got a call from Able Translations for a new task, and I said that I had to get the payment Able owes me first ($50). About 2 weeks ago, I accidentally got the cheque (I have given up any hope on Able). However, I won't take any new tasks, and won't recommend anyone to work for this company. I believe this company should be investigated or even suspended by Canada government.

To help you out, the names are actually
Annabelle Teixeira- Vice President of FInance and Wilson's wife
Wilson Teixeira- President and owner and the main vision behind the idea that all employees are expendable and easily replaced.
There have been two articles in the Toronto Star about them. One of them this month. And both a web news and video news segment on CBC exposing them.
Unfortunately I don't believe any of this will ever change anything until they are legally prosecuted and bankrupted.

So after waiting months for a paycheque....Able finally issued a post-dated cheque for several of the months owed (not the whole amount). After it was finally deposited, the bank called to say that it did not clear. The cheque was barely over $1000. What a joke of a company!!! Of course a call and email have been placed with Annabelle but as usual, NO RESPONSE. If you are reading this...do not waste your time working for this company!

They are very crook people and doing all kinds of trick so that they can either avoid or at least delay the payments - real criminal people with real criminal advise from their legal adviser Julio Montero - he is the biggest idiot after Wilson and Annabelle. Julio is the big black dot on the Canadian legal system as a Lawyer.

This is the worst company to work for. They are relentless when they need you to translate for them but when it is time to pay, they seem to drop off the planet. I am going to notify all the CBI and LifeMark clients to steer clear of this company as they seem to pocked all the money they are supposed to pay their contractors. I am strongly thinking of taking them to court. I have proof and witnesses that I did the work. Also they seem to change their contracts without any notification to the translators which is illegal. An example of this is quite recent. They supposedly changed their pay from 30 days to 60 days after months end. If I had known this, I would not have even done the translation. Like the title says, stay away. You are better off translating for yourself. Never accept a contract from these criminals.

I worked for Able translation as a interpreter and went to the places like Kitchener to cover the assignments. From last June I have done so many assignments but not s single dollar is paid. I sent several emails to enquiry and calling them almost every day. One day accidentally Annabelle came on line. She said i have to wait until it is paid when I asked how long I have to wait it can be vary for many months. When I argued with her she asked my name and said that name is not in the system and check with the coordinator. When I checked with the coordinator she said my name is there. We have been posting on this web with out any action. We should get together and go on protect in front of Able translation to open the eyes.

Might be time to contact CBC and The Toronto Star and request a follow-up to their news stories from last fall. CBC actually did a TV segment on the very crooked Wilson Teixeira and he told them this was due to accounting errors. By the way, they also fire any accounts receivable people who push for responsible bookkeeping and payment policies.

Here's the newest CBC reported complaint so they are still interested...

Extremely very very bad company to work for. They don't respect your effort. They NEVER PAY to any interpreters. If you call for you cheque they will hung up the phone calls or ask you to send an email to enquiry@abletranslation.com, but never expect any reply for your emails from able translations. I NEVER RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO WORK FOR THIS MONEY MONGER. They still owe me $800.00 for the work I have done for them.

I am convinced that able translation is a professional scammer praying on trusting type , deserve to be taken to the criminal court instead of civil court (small claim) for intentional fraud on the inexperienced . They become judgement-proof, they are manipulating Canadian justice system !!!
We need to work as a team to gather proof , once they are convicted by the criminal court , the system will have enough resource to seize financially. reach me at alexnemeth071@gmail.com

I've expressed this before, having been on the inside of this organization, even the nearly 100 people who have expressed complaints here still don't know the depth of the corruption, arrogance, and ignorance that exists within this company. It is not only interpreters who have been ripped off but literally hundreds of front line employees who have been fired unfairly, managers who were forced out for trying to speak up against unethical practices. The only long term employees are the yes men who continue to fake positive reviews, write Mr Teixeira's newsletters pretending to be him, and turn a blind eye to unethical and possibly even criminal practices. I only wish the CBC and Toronto Star also had encouraged law officials to get involved and do a full investigation, including the variety of sister companies that the Teixeiras hide behind when things go poorly for Able Translations like The Word Exchange and others.

0 stars for Able Translations Ltd. I have ben working with this company since 2005. They tend periodically pull a scam on their interpreters. It happened to me before but it has never been as bad as this time. I haven't got paid since May2015 until now August 2016. They owe me over 3500 dollars. I also wonder if anyone has taken them to court?

I went to 1 legal appointment duration of which was 9 hours and I haven't received any payments from them since beginning of February 2016 (6 MONTH).

Every time I call they take messages but never call me back with an answer.

I am ready to go to Ministry of Labor and even think about Class Action if they don't pay me soon.

Please let me know who will be interested to join Class Action.

To all unpaid Interpreters/ Translators,

I strongly suggest each and everyone of you - Please do not waist your time and energy emailing or leaving messages to them, they will not answer, rather go to the civil claim court - they only answer court's calls.

I recently get paid through Court.

Comment by pilipchuksv on Mar 04, 2017
Hello,
how much does it cost to sue them? All court expenses are added to the amount owed by Able?

Thanks

I have not been paid for the work I did for Able Translation in March and April 2016 despite of my reminders.

I am really sad to see this happening in a country like Canada. I am really disheartened to see that the Labour Department is not taking any action against them. They are using the service of qualified people who are forced to earn their living by working for such pathetic organization.
