Dr. Melissa Tuft is a friendly, gentle dentist who loves taking care of her patients. She’s been providing general and comprehensive dental care for more than 30 years at her office in the heart of San Francisco. Her patients rave about her friendly personality, gentle hands, and skill at helping them achieve their desired aesthetics. Having braces as a young adult gave her an appreciation for straight, healthy teeth that she brings to her practice every day. Now, she is an Invisalign level 2 provider - the highest level a dentist can become - and helps her patients achieve the smiles they want.   Dr. Tuft is seriously dedicated to continuing her education so she can bring her patients the most advanced therapies and treatments. For example, instead of a drill, she uses air abrasion which can gently remove decay. It’s not as stimulating or painful for patients and there’s no need for needles. When it comes to anaesthesia, she uses short-term products that wear off in 45 minutes so patients can easily go back to work without having their whole face stay totally numb. Dr. Tuft studied Biology and Chemistry at UC Santa Cruz as an undergrad before going to UCSF’s School of Dentistry for her DDS. Outside of her office life, she teaches restorative dentistry to the next generation of dentists and loves volunteering with SF’s homeless population to get back on track and achieve smiles they're proud of. She is a member of the San Francisco Dental Society, California Dental Association, and American Dental Association. When she’s not at work she enjoys sailing around the Bay, working out, traveling, and spending as much time as she can with her two daughters. Born and raised in Palo Alto, she’s lived in the Bay Area her whole life and loves the city.
