Hair cuts and colours
I've been going to magic cuts for years. Carrie is my stylist. I get compliments on my hair all the time. I've referred my friend and in the past 2 months both of us have been asked by a stranger on two separate occasions where do you get your hair done? My son visited from NB In August and I took him to Carrie for a hair cut and beard trim (he's 19) he said I have to fly him out once q month so he can have Carrie cut his hair again. Melanie was my stylist before Carrie but she has moved. Her work was awesome too!

Do Not Go there
Worst haircut of my life. Kept telling her it was uneven, she kept saying it was fine and making it worse as she tried? to fix it. Next shop I went to asked if I had tried to cut my hair myself!! Does not even rate one star.

Get the colour right, for God's sake
Have been going here for several years for regular cut and colour. Have always been happy until now. I think whoever owns it now is new or they have a bunch of new stylists. They couldn't find my colour card, then finally found it (or did they?). Did my roots and they are now DARKER than my natural colour and much darker than the rest of my hair. When I said the colour was too dark, instead of acknowledging that a mistake was make and offering to fix it, the stylist said my hair was "too light". Totally BIZARRE. As if her mistake was my fault! I mean her English wasn't very good, but when she said she would "match the colour", I kind of expected she would match the freaking colour. It will look even MORE BIZARRE when it grows out as I will have blonde, then chestnut roots and then medium brown roots. It will cost a LOT to get this fixed.

Here's how clueless she was - after I complained but then grudgingly paid (which I should NOT have done, but I was so shocked, I think I went into brain spasm), she GAVE ME HER CARD.

I should add that I wear glasses which were off during the whole session, or I might have noticed sooner that the colour was wrong. What a shock to put on my glasses, all excited, and see that mess.

If I could give them a negative star, I would! Kerri-Ann is a rude and ignorant young woman, who needs to learn how to deal with people. Announced to the salon that my daughter had lice, and we would contaminate the salon! I came to look, and Kerri-Ann showed me what she said was a nit. I pulled it out with my finger nails. I tried to look through her hair, but Kerri-Ann just repeated, that she just couldn't,wouldn't cut her hair. On the verge of tears, my daughter got up and tried to hand her the cape which she refused to touch. Wrecked our night, dealt with tears and she did not have lice! Utterley humiliated!

Great at what she does. At $26 including a $6 tip I feel was more then a great deal.

Great Style
Hi, I came into this location out of convenience, I was unable to get into my regular hairsylist at another salon. I was referred to see a lady named Melanie. I have always been hesitant to try new salons and new hairstylists.
I was really impressed with how quick she was, my hair was dyed and cut. I have received so many compliments on my hair. My hair was not just a trim, I get a specific style and she cut it (even better) than the hair stylists that I have go to for the past few years. I also paid half of the price of what I am used to paying.
I would recommend her to anyone (and I have)!!
The salon was what I had expected for Magic Cuts, simple, not flashy. It isn't often that I have found someone that can give a high-end cut and color for half the price of a high-end salon.

Grumpy staff
I took my 3 year old there to get a haircut and after waiting for half an hour and observing the foul mood of the 3 "stylists", my daughter was no longer excited to get her hair cut, rather she was scared.
The lady brushed her hair in such a rough way to the point where my daughter was on the verge of crying. She then spent a whole 7 minutes trimming her hair and said "all done!". My daughter left the salon saying she didn't like to get her hair cut... what a terrible experience for her second hair cut ever!!
I could have saved 15 bucks and done it myself.

Terrible customer service
Called to see if it was walk in or by appointment. I needed my hair styled. I was given a 4pm appointment. At 4:20 I asked if it would be much longer. No. At 4:30 I was told the stylist was having something to eat. At 4:40 the stylist came out told me she would be available at 5pm. I asked if anyone else could do my hair. No answer. So I cancelled my appointment. Don't give appointments that you can't fulfill. If a customer knows it's first come, first serve they know what to expect. An appointment should be honoured.

I agree with your comments, this is what happened to us. This morning (Nov 13/11) my daughter and I had an appointment at 11am to have our hair cut and highlighted. The package we had was a Groupon gift certificate that included foil high lights and cut with was and style…We found the ladies to be extremely rude with absolutely no customer service skills.
When we arrived we noticed they were not keen or happy to see us and we were guessing that it had something to do with the Groupon gift certificate and therefore they were arguing as to who was going to help us. Once we were in the chair I asked the hairdresser if I could also have a root touch up and she said it didn’t come with the Groupon certificate, I acknowledged that I was planning to pay extra and asked how much, she quoted me $79.95. I thought that was a bit steep for a root touch up so I asked how much was it to have the full head and she said it would be around $90. It seemed too high and I wanted to check other Magicuts prices were therefore I said I would come back another time. I sensed she was relieved to be rid of the lady with the Groupon gift certificate.
My adult daughter’s hairdresser…told her that the foils would do nothing to her hair and suggested her hair would turn green because over 2 years ago she had out grown bleached highlights professionally done. Then the hairdresser showed her ¼” strands and said this is the area one foil covers. We have had foils done and she was exaggerating a bit. My daughter was very disappointed at the attitude, service and the way she was treated. It was clear that this hairdresser was doing her best to discourage her from having her hair done and was happy that she was able to talk my daughter out of having her hair done today.
When I got home I called two different Magicuts and asked about the price to have root touch up and full colour and was quoted $41.95 for root touchup and full color was 56.95.
I have had my hair done in the past by Magicut and have been satisfied by the service but the service provide by the Magicut at 9855 Austin Rd, Burnaby, B.C. (in Lougheed Mall) was our worst experience ever and we will never step foot in that location again.
