Internet is super spotty. The TV in our room did not work half of the time and my phone had a hard time getting any kind of service. The M club is among one of the worst ones out there it is super small and the coffee machine only offers sweet coffee options. For such a large hotel, they really need to find another spot for the end club and make it as nice as the one at the Marquis. The lady cleaning our room on the 14th floor was amazing and that was the highlight of our stay.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. However, the hotel is tired, the rooms are tiny and poorly appointed, the lounge is undersized and the service is lacking. I tried to place a room service order for lunch and no one picked up the phone after trying five times over the course of 90 minutes. I would have preferred the consistency of a Courtyard over this. I don’t plan on staying here again.

Parking is SUPER EXPENSIVE and although there's a lot for guests, it was full. Walls in just rooms are thin - the person's snoring in the adjacent room kept me awake. The electrical outlets next to the bed need replacing because the charging block wouldn't stay in.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful.

Stayed two nights at the JW Marriott in DC. The hotel itself was quite nice, the staff was pleasant, but the parking was a total rip-off. My car sat in the garage for less than 48 hours—less than two full days—and I was billed for 72 hours. Checked in Monday at 5:30 PM, pulled out Wednesday at 4:15 PM, yet somehow that equals three full days of charges.

That “extra” $85 left a bad taste. For a premium hotel, I expected fair and transparent billing, not a parking scheme that punishes guests. Great rooms, but beware of the garage—because that’s what you’ll remember when you check out.

Read a lot of negative reviews and I have to say I don't get it. OK, it's not a Ritz or a Four Seasons, but I checked and Four Seasons was 2.5x the price. Disclosure: I'm not a Marriott member, so I don't have a slate of other Marriotts to compare to.

Here's my take: The room was very clean, extremely quiet, in a great location, and for me the value was very good. (My other recent stay was an incredibly overpriced resort where you were being overcharged at every turn). Very comfortable bed. Things you no longer get at other hotels, even at a moderate quality level, like full size pillows, nightly housekeeping. Nice things to get when there is no guarantee of getting them anymore. (I mean yes I do expect them here but you can't take anything for granted these days).

The not so greats: Parking price (I actually don't need it or shop for it) seems absurd, but I don't really know. The lack of late night food options probably the worst part, but I knew beforehand, it wasn't an issue. I did say the room was very quiet, except the solenoid valve on the A/C creaked every time the unit shut off. (Mild annoyance). One last thing, the hallways were a bit dark. Could have been brighter.

The unknowns: Not sure if/when card access is turned on for the elevators. I assume it's on later at night, but it was never on that I noticed, but I was not up late (maybe 9:30 was the latest I went upstairs).

Secret tip, the entrance can be crazy during check out/check in. Take a left down the stairs once you exit and go out to Penn. Ave to catch a cab/uber.

Overall very pleased with my stay here.

The JW is in a great location within walking distance to many of DC's attractions. The rooms, although smaller, are comfortable and the bed was decent. The hotel's breakfast restaurant and bar/grill were very good. Housekeeping staff were super friendly. The room cost is higher than some DC locations, but worth the price. The Marriott Lounge for Bonvoy Elite members was closed due to renovations, but we received multiple perks in lieu of it being closed. Overall, the interior and exterior were very clean and the noise level was low.

What a disappointment. Checking in, there was one receptionist dealing with a guest with issues. After a long wait, I had to ask him if there were any other representatives and he hit a button and they presto! Why did I have to ask. Got to my room and it was a pokey little hole half the size of a Hampton Inn! Disappointment number 2. Went for dinner. Bar service was limited to one server and one helper for a full bar so service sucked. The salmon was good so tried the tiramisu which was a bad idea! Just melted water at the bottom.

I would be upset if I paid more than $200 for this service. Unfortunately I had to pay way more. 3 says to go so will suffer through.

What a fantastic place to stay!
This was my first trip to Washington, D.C., and the JW Marriott was an incredibly comfortable choice. The room was spacious, clean, and in excellent condition. The air conditioning system cooled the room quickly and efficiently.

The elevator system, however, was a bit unusual and could be confusing at first. Don’t worry—you’ll get the hang of it!

The staff were generally wonderful, with most being very kind and eager to help whenever I had questions. A few were just okay, but overall, their service was impressive.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of this Marriott is its unbeatable location. Famous landmarks like monuments and museums are just a short walk away.

If you’re considering staying here, I highly recommend it! It will definitely meet, if not exceed, your expectations. 😊

The hotel is located in a very convenient and fast position. Every day, there are dedicated staff members who come to clean the rooms with enthusiasm and meticulousness. Both the gym and the sauna room use the super convenient hotel-customized exclusive chocolate. It is recommended to cancel the cinnamon and ginger flavors of 'tranquility' and choose the ones that are generally popular among the public. This is a very good brand chocolate. Every detail of the hotel is exquisite and considerate. The parking fee is very high. It is recommended that everyone do not come by car.

Came here for a power of m event and I was beyond impressed from start to finish. I was greeted by the friendly valet and able to check in early. The front desk agent told me all my perks and the check in was seamless. The room I got was 1119 and has an amazing view, the room was spotless upon check in and after every full service, the amenities were all placed with thoughtfulness in mind. Every single staff I encountered in the hallway was friendly, the food on site was incredible and vegan friendly. The bartenders are also super friendly

Everything about this hotel is a 5/5

Pool-free hotel charging “resort” fees and offering in exchange tours nobody wants and tiny Uber credits. Unreasonably difficult to get a correct itemized bill after my stay. Front desk service was ok and room was decent even with a little water damage on the blinds.

We had great service here in the hotel, everyone is polite and gentle to take care of us. However, the room is very very noisy that you can hear people talking in the hallway. Also you can hear your neighbor if they talk loud in the room. Our TV has an issue and not fixed.

Pros-

Great location.

Cons-

Don’t usually write complaints, but for the money spent this experience was awful. Construction noise was so loud it woke us up each morning at 6 am. I found a pair of someone else’s boxers on the floor. Our Tv was blue in hue and we could not change it, and the elevators stopped working and we could not get up to our room. Marriott missed the mark big time.

This is a nice hotel. You will be comfortable. They have all the basics you may need and a little more. I did not notice anything unique about it and the rooms are somewhat small. It’s clean but it feels a little outdated. Beautiful big lobby. They still have porters (doorman) which is not super common any more but it’s a nice touch. There is a gift shop on property that is also a coffee shop. They have an executive lounge on 14th floor which I didn’t get to visit because it works limited hours (I really wanted to though but somehow my availability was coinciding with their breaks). Rooms service is available.
We ordered Pepsi and it came pretty quickly. Fast taxi service, helpful concierge service, helpful polite staff. My room was on the 8th floor had a view on the Washington monument so it was a plus. Fridge available in the room, good AC system. I find this hotel to be comfortable. It’s also not too far from Ronal Reagan’s airport (about 20 mins away).

Pretty good location. Good rooms. At check in, they tell you that because you PAID some fee, they are giving you $30 credit for food at their restaurants. What they don’t tell you is that this fee is paid additionally to the hundreds of dollars you already spent on your reservation. I get that this is a fee you have to pay either way but just the way they set it up and not explain seems sketchy and wrong. The fee is around $35 per day (not much but still weird they don’t clarify). At check-out, their system was down and they could not access my bill. I requested to be called to be given the summary of charges and a woman named Katrina/Karina was absolutely rude and impolite when I inquired about these fees. I just wanted to understand what these charges were because, at check-in the other employee implied it was already paid in the reservation. It seemed to me that my questions were such an annoyance and inconvenience for this person on the phone. It truly is not about the money (in the end they charged the full amount with no issues) but about the horrible customer service experience when issues like this arise. That phone call with Katrina/Karina (cannot quite remember her name) ruined the great experience we had at the hotel and her attitude overshadowed all the other nice things I had to say about the hotel.

Nice hotel. Not as nice as our JW in Tampa, but our hotel is new so that’s not really a fair comparison. Great location. Very clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. The rates are very competitive for a nice hotel that is close to the White House, Capitol, and walking distance from many great restaurants. Check-in was unnecessarily slow with only two people working the desk, but it wasn’t a big deal. Last year I stayed at the Watergate with my daughter because I thought it would be cool to see the “history.” However, it was far (a $25 Uber ride) from everything. The JW is the perfect balance of convenience, value, and amenities.

Great clean hotel. Staff were courteous and helpful when needed. Comfortable beds, great view and a block and a half from the White House.

Close to everything! The staff is so kind and the views are SPECTACULAR! We got to see several motorcades from our room and we are within walking distance of monuments and all sorts of other attractions. Love this hotel and it will probably be our go-to when we’re in DC. The only small complaint is that the rooms could be slightly bigger and that the bathroom door is just a sliding door, not a traditional one with hinges. Still, the location, views, and service make up for those small issues.

This property is . . . odd.

When you arrive, the drop off is small, tight, & congested. It’s easy to just give your car to the valet but overnight parking is $72 plus tax! Yikes. It takes forever to get your car back. Instead, park across the street under the Ronald Reagan building for international trade; parking is $19 per day on the weekend.

When you enter it’s a grand, open modern lobby. The staff is warm, welcoming & eager to please. We were treated to a $30 per day food / beverage credit which works out to about 2 drinks at the lobby bar. The credit is not valid at the Market sundry store which was disappointing

The elevators are awful. You punch in your destination floor then get in but there are no floor buttons inside the elevator. The conference rooms are all subterranean. We were always confused about what negative number to push to get the correct floor, as were many of the others attending the same conference. If you get it wrong, you have to get out of the elevator, enter the correct floor and wait for a different car.

The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The bathroom could use a hook to hang up your robe or clothes while you shower. Like most Marriots in my experience logging into the free wifi with your loyalty number was a p.i.t.a.

The hotel’s location can’t be beat. It was nearby and walkable to everything. The employees were very nice and the rooms were comfortable. We had a great view of the washington monument and some of the other amazing Washington D.C. sites. While we weren’t there for anything at the hotel, there were quite a few conferences going on and they were super nice.

The only thing good about this place is the location. Rooms are sub par. I checked in due to canceled flight. The room I booked was not available so they put me in a lesser room. I stated so to the front desk who was Greta and got me a new room. I ordered room service because 1331 was closed. I was told it would take 30-45 min at 1130pm. I called down at 1230 and ask. They hang up. I call back I’m told please hold, without letting me answer. I wait 10 min and hang up and cal back. I call again told to hold and placed on hold. Then 5 min pass I call again told again to hold. So I go down to the front desk and there are no customers at the desk and the women is by herself. She calls someone to check on food that I ordered an hour and a half ago (now 1am) and they say they delivered it which clearly did not happen. So they’ll just refund it….im so glad I waited up for an hour and a half and am now not eating. The disregard or even sympathy was impressive. I wouldn’t stay here agin if it was free. Just due to room standards and the lack of customer care I just experienced over the last 2 hours. Earlier when the room was not what I had booked, I asked them to upgrade and I would pay or to cancel and refund me. To which they said they could not move me to what I wanted. And could not cancel me without fee. They did lower my room floor and put me in a bigger room but with a Murphy bed. That women was very nice but sadly I have stayed at many JW, and this is not as expected.

Just stayed at the JW in DC for a few days for a family trip to DC. This resort is very well located near the White House and walking distance to a lot of consulates, government buildings, parks and attractions. Now, why the 3 stars? Well this JW Marriott is more like a regular Marriott than a JW. Actually, I think it even gets closer to a Sheraton. I’ve been to many JW in the past and they aren’t no St. Regis or Ritz but they do come close. Not this one. I’m not sure why Marriott would allow the JW brand to take a hit on its reputation by making this one. I think it was a Marriott at one time since many apps call it that but if it was, all stayed the same and they just changed the name.

The restaurant onsite leave a lot to desire. The elite lounge looks like a breakfast bar from the Fairfield Inn. Coffee taste terrible. There is two onsite restaurants (one is more of a bar). The restaurant that opens for all meals isn’t good. Taste is bland and portions are small. They don’t carry some items that you would expect from a luxury brand like oat milk. You can tell that the hotel went through a bit of renovations when it was made into a JW but that doesn’t show in the rooms as the rooms are typical for a 2000’s Marriott with a small tub, no amenities, tiny rooms and tiny bathrooms. Even the coffee on the rooms is your typical coffee you would expect in the lower Marriott brands. It’s clearly a disappointment if you are paying and expecting a JW experience but getting a much lower level.

If you are a business person just staying one night then this might do. If you are a bit bougie and enjoy the quality of the JW brand, then you might want to go elsewhere…. Maybe the Ritz, the Pendry or the St. Regis.

Sorry to be so negative, I’m just stating facts I wish I knew before booking.

My daughter surprised me with a trip to DC for the two of us. This hotel was great. Very clean and friendly. In a central location to explore all around you.

Excellent service and wonderful experience. Guest representative- Katrina was exceptional from the moment I arrived. She walked through hotel to help give directions and was through regarding the benefits I received being a Bonvoy Marriott member. She also assisted with late check out. Highly recommend!
