Truly the most organized, thoughtful professional company I've ever worked with.
We wanted new lighting and flooring in our kitchen, which involved the removal of a drop ceiling of large fibreglass panels in aluminum framing, which created a challenge that John miraculously solved......and the removal of glued down linoleum sheet flooring.
The team then installed pot lights with dimmers .....their placement planned by John for maximum benefit. Vinyl plank floor was expertly installed with new trim and baseboards. The project included the removal of an old dishwasher and the installation of a new one. David did repairs including drywall, & painted the walls, ceiling & trim with much attention to detail.
Even without replacing the cupboards I felt like I had a brand new kitchen.
John and his team of Vito, David, Michael & Paul were always available for questions/consultations to ensure we were happy with the progress of the project.
Along with quality of workmanship...safety & tidying up at the end of the day is a priority for John.

John and his crew successfully repaired the ceiling in our dining room and kitchen that had cracked repeatedly over the past 10 years despite several attempts to repair it by other contractors. They arrived on schedule and were very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. They were very careful to protect our property from damage and they cleaned up the work site every day. Got Oborne Contracting to install a dishwasher which included cabinet work, electrical and plumbing. Jeff was very professional in his approach on site and I couldn't have asked for a better job done. Considering the challenges of space constrain in installing the dishwasher Jeff went above and beyond in his 2 days on site and executed the job perfectly. The quote estimates were spot on and I will definitely be using Oborne for my next upgrade project.

John went above and beyond to make sure that I got a custom-made movable kitchen island during the current supply chain shortages of this pandemic. He not only helped with the initial design, but checked in to make sure the job was done to my liking and within a reasonable time frame. John is honest, reliable and makes sure the client is happy with the finished product. I recommend John Oborne contracting to anyone and everyone looking for help with remodeling.

We hired Oborne Contracting to do our main bathroom renovation. We interviewed a few Contractors to do this work. While Oborne's quote for the project was the highest we received, we were most impressed by their professionalism and uncompromising quality. For example, there was a very specific waterproofing product that I wanted to use as it was highly recommended to me by a friend who works in this area. Other Contractor's indicated this product would be a premium to their quote. Before I even asked the question, Oborne said that is the product they use and they will not use any other. That is what sold us on Oborne!

During construction the Project Manager was very accommodating of my questions and concerns. He reviewed big decisions with me in advance. We felt comfortable having the Oborne team in our house and around our family.

At the end of the project there were very few deficiencies, and the ones we had were fixed quickly and to my satisfaction. We were also able to complete this project without any Change Orders, in large part to early decisions by us (the Client) about products and finishes.

We would absolutely work with Oborne again! John and his team did an excellent job!

We have been working with John and the Oborne team for almost ten years at two previous homes. More recently we have been working with John on inspections of prospective home purchases, and that is because we trust him and his team to tell us the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The team is exceptionally professional, prompt and we always receive open and honest communication about our projects, even prospective ones. All works are done with exhaustive attention to detail, and they always ensured a clean worksite, so we could continue to live in the house while renovations were underway. John's estimates have also been very accurate, and complete. We had previously used other contractors for in-home renovations, and no one can hold a candle to Oborne.

We engaged Oborne Contracting to repair a garage door and surrounding frame which had been damaged by a vehicle impact. The work involved structural repairs to the garage door frame (which also supports two floors of the house above it), replacement of the garage door and surrounding precast concrete trim, and other more cosmetic repairs. The final result was exactly what we were looking for: the garage looks better now than before the accident.

Apart from being happy with the final result, I was particularly happy with how this company dealt with problems they ran into along the way. They communicated openly and honestly about issues and redid work which had not turned out as they had expected. I was very happy to have the work done right - and to know that the company’s employees were focused on doing a good job as opposed to just getting the job done as quickly as possible.

I would not hesitate to recommend the services of this company.

I was introduced to Oborne Contracting just over 20 years ago. I have a home in Danforth Village and as a single mother was extremely careful about engaging a contractor to work with. John Oborne was a great find. John always did exceptional work. His workers were professional, dedicated and I can honestly say, talented. Over the years I called on John many times - he was always there to work with me to create exactly what I wanted at reasonable costs. The list is long and include a separate entrance to my basement apartment - all done according to code, a complete revamp of my bathroom after the pipes had burst (along with many other households in Toronto) , a complete re-build of my basement apartment including drywall, plumbing, new window, floor, painting and electrical work. He also did foundation work and waterproofing. Custom carpentry work includes a new beautiful bannister, the highlight of my Living Room, I am in the process of selling my and am truly proud of the work done. I have been asked several times who did the work - proud to say Oborne Contracting.

We met John, the owner of Oborne contracting, in February 2017. We had spent the previous summer interviewing various contractors, and after becoming disenfranchised about it all, took a 6 month break before we met John.

From our first meeting, we knew that Oborne was a good fit for us. We were looking to do a main floor total gut renovation, so we knew the contractor we chose would be in our lives for a substantial period of time. John was upfront about the fact that he was interviewing us as much as we were interviewing him, what our respective roles and responsibilities and next steps would be, and that he didn't want us to waste our time if we didn't think the relationship would work.

Soon there after, we were also introduced to Georgia, who's design expertise and non-pushy approach was exactly what we were after. What we really appreciated was her desire to get to know "us" to assist her in designing features and picking fixtures and finishes that would suit our lifestyle.

We were brave enough to live at our house during our 6 month renovation, which we expected to be horrendous balancing two young kids, two jobs, a dog, and contractors constantly in our space. Our site supervisor Kevin Myers and his team, including Kiak and Sonny, as well as their recommended subtrades went above and beyond in every regard - they were friendly, professional, courteous, dependable, patient, and the cleanest contractors we have ever seen. Kevin really became like part of our family, the kids knew Kevin would be here when they woke up and were disappointed if he wasn't here when they came home from school.

One morning, Sonny pulled Ben aside and wanted to show him (discretely) in the backyard that a baby raccoon had died - he was worried that the kids would come out back so he moved it off to the side, shielded it with some boxes, and called 311. Clearly not his job but one of the many many examples of how Oborne went above and beyond.

Reflecting on our entire renovation, we are hard pressed to say that there is anything we would change. When others ask about our renovation "experience" they are always surprised to hear how relatively smooth and painless it was. While there were definitely some set backs and bumps along the road, there was never a moment where we felt as though John, Georgia or Kevin didn't have our best interests at heart.

We've already asked John to come back and quote us to renovate our upstairs bathroom.

I called Oborne Contracting with a home construction project. I received excellent, clear plan regarding what the work would entail. John is super professional and very easy to communicate with. He encourages questions and replies to emails within a very reasonable timeframe. Ultimately, however, I decided to go with another contractor due to budget. Oborne Contracting provides site managers for their work, other than the owner (John), which adds to the cost. However, if you are able to fit this into your budget, I would not hesistate to hire Oborne Contracting.

I have decided to get in touch with “Oborne Contracting Inc” after my neighbour used them for a renovation next door.
Oborne Contracting attended preliminary meetings and described the scope and work that needed to be done.
Milestone dates were followed as planned, and therefore the Project was done on time, the work was done fast, as for unforeseen change orders, they were handled clearly and professionally and were kept to a minimum.
It’s been a great experience dealing with Oborne and would count on them on our next job.

This is the 2nd year in a row we have used Oborne Contracting for renovations to our house. Last year they renovated our kitchen and bathrooms, and this summer it was finishing our basement.

We were very happy with the final product and professionalism of the staff. Their trades are excellent and the Oborne staff do an great job of communicating with respect to timelines and the details on the work being done.

It was a pleasure working with John and his team at Oborne Contracting. My fiancé and I loved John from the very beginning. He really took his time with the initial visit, explained everything in great detail, gave us a few lessons on safety, and even a few tips on the rest of our renovations that we were not hiring him for. The execution of the work was equally impressive. Everything was done as we had discussed to the very last detail. I think what sets John apart from the rest is how professional and well managed his company is. Although Oborne Contracting is not the cheapest, these are the guys I would call if I need something to get done right.

My husband and I were looking for a house and were concerned about getting a home inspection. I was discussing this with a friend and she mentioned that when she bought a home she used John from Oborne Contracting. She gave me his number and I was able to make an appointment for three days later. John arrived right on time and we proceeded to do the inspection. Buying a home in Toronto can be really scary because, you basically have no subjects and all the houses are quite old and somewhat ravaged by the weather. John went around with me, pointed out everything that was good and bad, and was able to tell me what repairs needed to be done, but more importantly, when it needed to be done -2,5, 10 years ect...What was also really great was that he was able to give us prices of what each job would cost, so you can factor that into the price of your home. John took one hour, went top to bottom, left no stone unturned and left me feeling really confident when we were involved in the inevitable bidding war. I am so happy that I went with John-he was so professional and so nice. If I was ever to do this again, he would be the first person I would call.
