I had called the guy on the phone first to check and see if there was a room available for my friend and I, as it was Saturday night. He was very unpleasant on the phone and brief. Nonetheless, we decided to go there.
When we got there, my friend suggested asking to see the room first. We were denied. This irked us, but then we remembered staying at a place similar to Aaron Motel when we were in California years back, and we had a great time there. We decided to go for it. I paid cash. The man at the desk sharply stated that there was absolutely no smoking and no refunds.
Walking to our room, we passed people sitting in a car blaring music, with a loud muffler, yelling at each other, and going in and out of their room every five minutes. We also passed a couple with two young kids yelling.
We got in our room, and were taken aback by the smell of cigarettes, moldy carpet, and period blood. There were blood stains on our sheets, and holes that had been burned into the sheets from cigarettes. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom.
My friend (who was pregnant at the time), was ready to rest, but couldn't as the couple next door was blaring their TV and shouting at their kids. The walls were very thin. The building across from ours had open rooms. I explained to the man at the front desk that my friend was pregnant and needed rest, and asked for a different room that might be quieter, and we were denied. The manager asked why it was loud. I told him about the couple with children next door. He called them and bitched them out for not telling him they had kids. This pissed them off and they got louder.
We got back to the room, and the manager knocked on the door next door and told the couple they had to leave for not being honest with him. It was a very loud altercation.
Once the manager had returned to the office, I went over to demand a refund, explaining that this place was loud and made us uncomfortable. The manager shouted at me and refused to refund my money. My friend and I gave him the key, packed up our stuff, and fled the place.
If you're REALLY STRAPPED for cash and are a hard sleeper, I guess give it a shot. Two chicks? Avoid this place like the plague!!!
