The Animal Clinic

I have been going to this clinic for the last 20 years. Dr John Reeve-Newson and his partner Dr Matthew Richardson are fantastic. They practice excellent medicine and really care about the pets. Their prices are comparable to the downtown prices. Their food prices are lower then the pet stores. You pay for what you get!

I have read the other reviews and i don't deny these people charge a bit more ,but the level of expertise for Poodles in particular has to be at the top, every breed has its issues and poodles are no exception. The head Vet at this clinic has a true depth of knowledge and treatment for this breed ,as these dogs of ours are an integral part of our family ,i have sought out the best and have little issue for paying for top talent , that said who wouldn't like a cheaper price , but you get what you pay for.

I live in New Market, but I have been coming down to The Animal Clinic for the last 8 years. I would not trust anyone else with my dog and my kitty. They are thorough, honest and truthful. There was a time when I could not afford my dog's treatment and the practice manager allowed me to pay in installments over 6 month. No other clinic would do that.

This office is clean and tidy. The receptionists seem relatively on the ball and are generally in a good mood. My sore spot with this vet lies squarely with the pricing structure. $500+ to spay my dog? Are you serious? Seems a little outrageous considering I can have the surgery completed for less than half of that amount elsewhere. I'm aware that they use "cutting edge technology", lasers or something of the sort, but what's the point? Dogs and cats have been spayed and neutered for decades with a knife and a few stitches.

This clinic has interesting ways of making money. In a routine geriatric test, they determined that there could be something wrong with my pet's health. I assumed that there possibly was going to be some health issue since the cat was geriatric however, he didn't exibit any symptoms. I was reluctant to bring him in for what would be a barage of tests because if they didn't find something with one test they would have to do another, and so on. Then, if they found something, he would have to have treatment until the 'issue' cleared or for the rest of his life. Since he appeared happy at home, I terminated the onslaught of calls to get him tested and decided to just let him live life out. He lived nearly another 10 years before he showed true old age illness and passed away.
Think twice before you bring in your loving pet. They will make you feel that you don't have his best interest at heart if you don't comply to their tests. These tests can actually torture an animal until he/she finally leaves us. What is the point of that? An animal understands life and death better than we do but at times, unless there has been an accident, this type of clinic makes a killing on the devotion we have to our animals. Just love them and use judgement.

i just called to bring my pet in, to attend the doggy day care. I told the staff person on the phone that my dog was up to date with all her vaccinations and she had just had a full physical with our vet two weeks ago and i would bring in all her papers etc. I was informed that for my dog to attend the daycare I would have to pay for a full physical again with their vet which would cost $75!!! I obviously protested this, and assured her that my dog was fine.... I had just brought her in two weeks ago. The staff person then told me that if i didn't allow my dog to be checked by their vet she wouldn't be allowed to attend! I declined. I think this was poor customer service and just a way for the company to make more money! Not impressed!
