Our trip to the Leaside Animal Clinic was a wonderful experience for both the cat and me. The staff treats both animal and animal lover with equal affection and respect. Glad to report both of us are feeling much better. Tom Kalyn

I should have gone with my first instinct and just walked out when the vet wouldn't give me eye contact whatsoever. We adopted a 9 month old lab/retriever mix 4 days before bringing him to Leside Animal clinic. He's a bit gun shy (possibly abused) and I told her this and asked her not to do anything abruptly before taking a couple of seconds to get to know him. She decided NOT to take my advice and just went right at him with her stethoscope. He growled and backed away behind me (scared) and she FLIPPED out. She told me "there are so many nice labs out there, you don't need to be stuck with this one". What?! She then proceeded to take him out of the room somewhere else to give him his shots. She came back and flat out told me I should re-home him. She said she had to use a muzzle to give him his shots. Her body language SCREAMED "i hate big dogs". I was SO disheartened that a VET would recommend re-homing a dog that was JUST adopted. His tempermant is GREAT at home and with ANYONE once they take a few seconds to let him get used to them first. My 5 year-old daughter snuggles all the time with him, my two year old had tried to ride him, and he doesn't mind AT all. My youngest hugged him when he came back in the room and she goes "OH MY THAT'S DANGEROUS!!! DON'T DO THAT!!!" proceeding to make HER cry and wonder why her dog is "dangerous". I will NOT be setting foot in that clinic again after such a traumatizing experience. Not to mention in the end, she was COMPLETELY overpriced. I can't believe a vet would just discourage someone from trying and just to give up. It's like a doctor telling you your kid has some mild behaviour issues, so it's not worth trying to help them. FOUR days, it's been FOUR days..obviously there's an adjustment period for everyone involved. She had a bad attitude and is obviously in the wrong profession. Do yourself a favor and find a vet that actually has compassion for animals and is not in it clearly just for the pay cheque.
