After the recent death of my father, I have been working to help my mother downsize and sell 2 homes. A recent task at hand was to sell my mom's antique furniture. Marva's place accepted a dining set and rejected a library table via email. Before I was to deliver the furniture, I asked Marva's Place a rough figure (knowing that could change upon seeing the items in person) and also inquired about donating the items, wanting to weigh the options and choose what was in my mother's best interest. Thinking Marva's Place were experts, I took to heart when they said donation wasn't a bad idea. They offered to pick up all of the item and "donate" all but two pieces which they paid me $150. I agreed thinking they were the experts and offered something that was fair. They picked up my mother's items and have listed ALL of them on their website for a total of $5830 (including the library table they originally rejected) and I have no tax donation slip to give my mother. This is a despicable way of doing business. I was lied to and essentially stolen from in taking their "expertise" to heart.
