Brought my car in due to a bad squeaky noise in my engine. I noticed that the shop wasn't as busy. After gotten my car on the hoist I was told to stay in the waiting area while they did an assesment on my car. Was told that a bolt has come out and was missing thus my alternator was hanging by the belt.
Was told that bolt was missing and needed to order it specially from Toyota and also the alternator belt needed to be replaced. Labour was $89 an hour. All parts needed to be ordered from Toyota and some fabrication was needed for this and that..blah blah..it might take more than a day due to waiting for the special parts. So the quote given was for total of $185 for a semi job and speciality parts.
What ended up was a simple bolt he took from the shop and a OEM belt from the existing stock and the final price was still the same?
To put the belt and bolt on the alternator took him an hour and a half?? Wow...I think it's too much..don't you think?
The bolt costs me $7.88 and the OEM belt cost me $19.26. None was Toyota special ordered parts as previously mentioned. Labour was $133.50...Honestly, I don't think it needs to take that long. What do I know anyways? But I need to find another place to take my car to.
