I've been on hold and had to redial to the same lady on the phone for my request. I wanted to check if there was something in stock and nobody answered. I work in the retail customer service industry as well and this is unacceptable. If you don't have it in stock, tell me. If you're scared that I've been on hold for 10+ minutes per redialled call, pick up and tell me what you're doing to check my request.
