I have had all of the service in about the last 5 years for my 2006 Vokswagen Jetts to Volkswagen Villa. The customer service hasn't been anything special, but it was the most convenient to our home.
This past winter the hood became very corroded. Someone advised me this was a warranty issue, and the hood would be replaced if I took it to the dealership. About 6 weeks ago, I took the car for its regular service. I advised them of the situation, and the customer service rep (who was very helpful) told me his service manager would take pictures, and he would send them off for approval. The service rep said it would take 1-3 weeks for the approval. The service manager advised me it would take a couple of weeks for the approval to come through.
About two weeks ago, I received a call from Mike advising me they had approval, and he would order the hood, then when it came in they would need the car for about 3 days. I asked if I would receive a rental, given I can't be without a car for that long. He explained VW does not cover rentals for this situation (that is another issue, not my issue here).
I explained that I had been with VW Villa for 5 years, paid a fair bit of money in service, and they have received a fair bit with warranty, and that perhaps they or the body shop should get me the rental. He explained that wasn't an option, so I suggested he find a different body shop that would, given many do offer (even without warranty).
He said he would get back to me. About 10 days later, I called several times, but nobody answered at the parts department. I finally decided to leave a voicemail (June 24) for him to respond to me. As of June 28, I still had not heard from him, so I proceeded to visit the dealership.
Mike advised me he would get in touch with me when he had an answer, and I explained I was here to get a resolution. He didn't seem to have many answers, so I told him to call VW to transfer the approval to another dealership, as I am done giving this company anymore business, specifically because of him. He said he couldn't do that as he had nobody he could call. As I had planned ahead, I gave him my cell phone after I had dialed the VW customer care number for him.
VW customer care is now in the process of transferring this job to another dealership. For anyone looking for service, I strongly recommend you deal with one of the many other dealerships in the GTA, that have a service manager that actually cares, and will return your calls.
