O'Reilly Auto Parts

I told the world about this on Yelp!, and will continue to tell this story forever more, so thought you should know, too.

Today, I was parked in a far corner of near-empty lot by the dumpsters on Christmas Eve, waiting for my wife and kid to come back out to the car, keeping my dog in the shade to keep him from getting too warm in the sun, when this middle-aged, ruddy-complected O'Reilly guy pulls up beside me, glaring at me out of the window of his sadass black pickup, rolls down his window and says,"Why don't you park so you don't take up two spots?" And I look around, just to make sure there is no one anywhere near in need of a spot close to where we are, and see nothing but empty space all around me, and I say, "The lot is more than half empty. Relax. I'm not in anyone's way here." And he parks in next to me, throws his neglected junker in gear, gets out in a huff, plastic name tag pinned to his ugly green clerk shirt, and glares at me again, looking for all the world like the Grinch himself. And I say, "And why don't you just mind your own business?" And he says--and remember, it's Christmas Eve, and he's going back to work in the same strip mall where my wife and kid are out shopping for some last minute Christmas stuff-- and he says, "because I have a low tolerance for assholes." And I blink because I just cannot believe this guy is for real, but he is. So I say, "Man, you're being the asshole here." And he says, "No way. Think about it." So I have. And now I hope whoever reads this, and anyone who knows this guy, especially the people he works for, thinks about it, too. Because I will never spend another dime in an O'Reilly Auto Parts store again thanks to the attitude of this employee of theirs. Because ​I mean, what kind of person goes out of his way to do such a thing ever, but especially on Christmas Eve?
