Been a customer of Downtown Mazda for too long. I took my vehicle in to deal with a problem and they replaced my alternator for $600. The following evening the replaced alternator burned out and forunately my vehicle died just off the 401. Towed it back into the dealership where they acted like they were doing me a favour by replacing the alternator at no cost. I wanted compensation for the towing and was given a nominal credit towards further service work. They made all kinds of excuses that it was the supplier's fault and they are trying to recoop the money from them. What a crock. I paid the dealership, not the supplier - that's their problem. 1 month later and the second alternator is now failing. I won't take it back to Downtown Mazda because they won't take responsibility and they don't care about servicing customers or their reputation. They have been suggesting that I should get a new vehicle. What a joke, I definitely won't get it from them! There are plenty of other dealerships who want my business and know how to treat customers.

This is my opinion based on actual first-hand documented and confirmed experience. Although this may not happen to you, it happened to me. All opinions are welcome

the car is great but I may never go back to this dealer until my issues can be resolved.

- Refused to honour promised reduction in lease rate that occurred between order and delivery... even though the promise was acknowledged in writing after the fact. In writing, the dealer tried to justify not honouring the commitment to a lower advertised lease rate.
- Substituted wrong make, style and size of winter tires. Specific tires were ordered and paid for with the initial order. Eventually, after vehicle delivery, they delivered and installed correct make but wrong style and size - installed discontinued tires, that were manufactured two years before installation (ie the rubber was already aged to almost half its warranted life)
- Backdated the date from January 2007 to December 2006, which is not only inappropriate, but also considered by many to possibly be illegal - resulting in wrong in-service date, wrong warranty date, wrong return date, and wrong monthly payment dates
- Mazda Canada customer service was ineffective in resolving my complaints
- all is documented and confirmed by me and by the dealer. All conversations between me and Mazda Canada Customer Relations have apparently been recorded for Quality and Training purposes, and no resolution was ever achieved. The Dealer offered $350 credit on service but (a) the value of overpayment on discontinued tires plus excess leasing costs far exceed the offered amount, and (b) I since I do not know if I can trust them to actually do the service, I declined the initial offer
- the issue is still not closed as of Nov 23, 2008
