Great Animal Clinic
We are a family with a number of pets (birds, bunnies, dog, caats); however, this story is about our dog, Spike. He is a Bichons- Shih Tzu mix and is 13 years old. He has a heart murmur and over the last year we have had to deal with changes in his health in which we were sure that he was not going to live much longer. When we brought him in late last winter, the diagnosis appeared to be congestive heart failure. The people at Martindale Animal Clinic were helpful, kind and very important to Spike's recovery. At this time, Spike is NOT in congestive heart failure- his heart is a bit big but the doctor at the clinic was very thorough and used her knowledge and critical thinking skills to find that Spike has breathing issues that were being complicated by his enlarged heart. Today, he has a bit of an ear infection (commom to dogs with flappy ears) and we are monitoring his heart and lungs in combination with medicine- But, I am happy to say that his heart is strong and he is able to have important and necessary surgery for his teeth next month. We hope that Spike will be able to live the next few years with the least amount of pain and the best life a dog can have! I am so appreciative of the hard work, the obvious compassion that the people at the clinic have for the pets that are their patients. The clinic operates with an open concept and with open minds- ultimately wanting the best for each pet that comes in and yet understanding the individual needs of the owners. I am most thankful of their considerations and support.
