Hansen Plumbing - Overpriced in more...

In 2007 Hansen plumbing replaced a water heater in my home. I paid premium price at that time based on recommendations of their company. Last week the water heater failed and needed replacement. When I called around for quotes, Hansen was by far ($600-$700) the most expensive, but did quote an 8-year warranty on a new heater. When I called back to book a replacement since my current heater was still under warranty, it was not made clear to me that they would only warranty the new heater for the two years remaining on the original warranty (I learned this after they had replaced the heater). They also charged over $900 (Service fee of $149, $680 for "labour", and $75 for recycling). For the same price I could have had a different company install a new heater (same brand and capacity) and received a full eight year warranty! So much for being a repeat customer - never again!

Although I am unfamiliar with what happened when you had your hot water tank replaced, I do know that I personally answer the phones 24/7 and I see that you were charged a $149.00 call out. Whenever there is an issue with a Bradford White hot water tank, the first thing I do is check the serial number to find out if there is any warranty on the tank left. As with any appliance the manufacturer will replace the unit but the labor is in addition to the cost. It is also standard that the balance of the remaining warranty is transferrable to the new appliance. If this was not clear I do apologise for the mix up, as it would not be our intention to over charge you. As for the $75.00 disposal fee, that helps cover the cost to dispose of the tank..... we cover the additional cost of wages and gas to get rid of it in an enviromently friendly manner.
