Great Program

This overall is a great program. It's reggio inspired, the teachers enjoy what they're doing, they respect the children have developmentally appropriate programming based off the children's, needs, interests, abilities and so fourth. sometimes its spontaneous. they respect diversity and are very warm and enthusiastic with the children and are firm when they need to be. they are also very supportive of eve students. my host teacher was quite supportive of me and understanding but also informed me on ways I could improve. the teachers were grade although one sometimes did something (that did not hurt the child) that I didn't always agree with. eg placing the blanket over the childs head. but they were great and helpful and accomodating. tammy is a lovely supervisor! I recommend this childcare!

Do Not Believe What Their Website Says

Their website lies and I have some first hand experience as a ece student during my very first placement there from seneca college. ok so there were some things I could have done better but I thus improved and I do well while still continuing to work on them. their program (at least for kindergarten is not stimulating.) I believe in Reggio-emilia(who is great) but the activities at chapel place not entirely child based. also its not reggio emilia One child wanted to move on to another activity but they wouldn't let him until they completed the puzzle. I can understanding having him clean it up first(unless someone else was playing with it) but they made him finish. also, i had to go against some of my beliefs. I'm a christian but I'm accepting of others. They made 3-5 years old memorize bible versions . they know them but don't actually what it means. (if anything religious views should be explained in a context that they understand/ a child's...

Chapel Place Daycare Ctr

First off, I am very familiar with Chapel Place Daycare, and I am not employed by this centre. I did find this review to be off base grammatically, logically, and systematically.

In common place of society, I would readily accept mediocre english and grammar skills, as many occupations don't rely on it. However, reading through this review, I couldn't help but think that maybe Chapel Place might be better off with RECE's (Registered Early Childhood Educators) that had a better command of the English language. It is not great practice to pass along really bad habits to impressioning minds. I, too, am a Seneca College graduate, and I am concerned with the caliber of future graduates if the grammar and command of the english language has the appearance of being learned from a youtube video uploaded by an ESL student.

It appears you are a firm believer and staunch supporter of the Reggio-Emilia philosophy. So, to judge a daycare centre that does not buy in to the same philosophy the same way you do, based on what you believe in, loses credibility. It's an "apples and oranges" kinda thing. Do not expect Reggio-Emilia practices to be strictly observed at Chapel Place Daycare. There are other philosophies, I might add.

In regards to the idea that bible "versions" are forced upon kindergarten students to memorize, I am in full agreement. I don't believe little minds like theirs should be memorizing full versions of the bible. I certainly hope those versions don't include the King James version, for I can barely understand that version as an adult. That would be on the border of child abuse. However, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the students to come away from a CHRISTIAN daycare with one verse a month memorized, and explained to them on their level so that there is understanding. If one were worried about their child's "moral development", I certainly hope one would do the smallest amount of research into the belief system of a particular daycare.

As far as an altercation you witnessed, you yourself explained that due diligence was practiced, and as far as I know, whatever teacher you are referring to is still there. Thus, the degree of severity at which you explain it with ("manhandled", "dragged", "horrified") couldn't have been as bad as you described.

I don't believe you should be recommending make-believe daycares like Asho Meadows Daycare to other parents. I tried looking it up online, I couldn't find anything. The closest I found was Ashok Meadows, but the commute would be very difficult seeing as it is in India. Unless you meant Ashton Meadows, that's another story. It's hard enough finding a daycare for your child you are comfortable with, let alone trying to weed out the fake centres from the real centres.

As far as the daycare is concerned, I have had great experiences with most of the staff, and to be honest, the class that I have heard bragged about the most, is the kindergarten class.

While this ECE student's experience with Chapel Place daycare is first hand, the sample size is very small. Outside of a block week, a student is only there 1 or 2 days a week at the most (I did my research). I would rather hear from someone who experiences them everyday, to get the full picture. I wouldn't try to build a house, if all I knew was I could get lumber on sale at Home Depot.

As this FORMER student's review was posted with the intent to warn parents, I, too, would like to offer up a counter warning to these parents. From here on forward, based on what I have read, I am very tempted to test the teachers of my children's future daycare in the most basic but important everyday, functional skills, ENGLISH. So thank you, Former student.

Sincerely,
